NARENDRA MODI................................mistakes to avoid going into 2014

Now many of the hardcore modi supporters would have jumped to the conclusion that i am gonna rake up the 2002 riots again.Be assured, this article has nothing to do with 2002 but will reflect the mistakes that he can avoid in a bid to get closer to the magic number of 272.No body can deny a modi wave in north india at this point of time which is getting stronger as the time passes.This makes bjp supporters confident that they will sweep the 2014 polls,they maybe right but there is nothing wrong in taking a bit of precaution.

1)Modi victory in all the northern states except j&k is a given,,if anyone had a doubt,it was gone after the assembly results announced on dec 8th.The positive for the bjp is that even though it was fighting for a third term in both chhatisgarh and madhya pradesh,there was no anti incumbency wave!!In fact madhya pradesh witnessed a pro-incumbency wave.
                                      But the problem lies in the southern and eastern parts of country,where bjp has no or very marginal presence at present.I emphasize the word at present to highlight that what AAP  achieved in delhi could be done by bjp here too.Bjp needs to utilize its huge workforce of rss workers to start door to door campaigning, highlighting modi achievements.Do this for 6 months and u will have bjp competing with regional parties in these areas.So all in all bjp must focus on the eastern and southern india much much more than north.

2)Connect with muslims is a must for bjp if it hopes to expand.Now i know people say that muslims will never align with bjp so there is no need to waste energy.But i totally disagree.Thee was an article by surjit bhalla in indian express that showed clearly with govt data that muslims in gujrat were more progressive and rich than their counterparts in west bengal,uttar pradesh,bihar etc.So why not project this??Why not involve muslim religious leaders and show them the data??Why??There is no harm in trying to reach out.

3)Exposure of modi in media is only through rallies which are telecast live.This is a mistake.Modi must be willing to come to tv studious for interviews regularly to emphasize his points.It dosen't even require an effort,journalists could be asked to come to him and take his views on selective topics.Granted he makes many points in rallies but urban middle class seldom goes to rallies so to tap this group even more,television exposure is a must.

I am sure following this advice bjp has nothing to loose,albeit they may win more seats for 2014!!

ANNA vs ARVIND

                                                       



The past few days i have been very disappointed with the tension going on between the aam aadmi party members and anna hazare.I always thought that after the spectacular showing of the AAP in delhi elections just a week ago will convince even the most die-hard hater of AAP that what they did was pathbreaking,something that has never been done before in india.
                                                                                  But to my dismay even the people who once were the allies of arvind kejriwal like anna hazare and kiren bedi have started behaving like digvijay singh!!Anna has been particularly arrogant towards the AAP even though they never deviated from their ideology ensuring a very clean fought election without use of any black money,muscle power or corrupt candidates in the fray.They used mostly unpaid volunteers,mainly college students for door to door campaigns but here were some ppl who had taken leave from their respective jobs to campaign for this party.The results of this effort were for all to see...........decimation of congress and halt to modi wave in delhi,pretty impressive if u ask me.

So whats anna's problem now??

In my opinion its the massive ago of anna hazare to blame.Before the AAP was formed all the focus was on hazare,he was the poster boy of anti-corruption movement,darling of media and middle class alike.He was perceived as a modern gandhi ,out to root out corruption.But after the formation of the AAP most of the brains behind the movement left the hazare camp and formed AAP and as a result hazare too hasen't done anything in the past 1 year.He was good only with good planning and backing of people like kejriwal and prashant bhushan and many others.The moment these ppl got engaged in AAP campaigning anna was left to fend for himself and as expected his hype bubble was burst in no time.The man who had the whole nation behind him was struggling to draw crowds of even a few dozen in his village.In contrast to this AAP decimated congress in delhi without a shred of help from hazare at all.

Contrast this with the man of the moment,arvind kejriwal.He has left all his lucrative jobs for this movement unlike hazare who lives in a village and gets pension every month so has done nothing out of the ordinary.Kejriwal and other members of AAP to their credit have never taken a single pot shot at hazare despite the latter's vehement critisism of AAP on at the best frivolous grounds.They still tried to give all the credit to anna hazare unlike hazare himself who ordered gopal rai out of his village yesterday!!Who is anna hazare to push someone out??Anti corruption movement is not the patent of anna hazare or even the AAP,its a movement built on the support of people and not invented by hazare.

So all in all it is the guru jealous of his shishya's success,nothing more.I just feel sad that a man who commanded such high moral standards could stoop so low as to train his guns at the same set of ppl who helped him to gain all the limelight that he enjoyed.

Immediate reason---food security bill that will make govt spend over 3 lakh crore(govt says 1.25 lakh crore but u need to put infrastructure in place and that requires double the amount atleast)

1)policy paralysis of govt as govt has not passed any law on

          a)pension reform
          b)insurance reform
          c)land acquisition
          d)no policy on coal block allocation
          e)goods and services tax(gst)

2)Environmental clearences have rattled the industry as most of the tribals are claiming the forests and the hills as their sacred property and refuse the companies to mine anything.As a result of that

         a)Posco project for setting up steel unit in orissa has been hanging fire for 10 years
         b)Yesterday vedanta group was refused by the tribals to let them mine bauxite from
            a hill they say is sacred.By the way we have world's 3 rd largest bauxite reserves
            and still remain net importer.

        c)Most of the coal plants and hydropower plants are stuck
        d)No clearence for new airports

        So investors have no intention of facing unlimited delay and they are not investing

3)Supreme court of india(u heard it):After coal scam and iron ore mining scams supreme court has banned mining exports from goa and karnataka and this move alone has made india loose about 17 billion$ this year alone!!!

After 2g scam supreme court cancelled the licences of most of the companies so they are reluctant to invest again fearing such intervention in future too

Supreme court has told govt that gram sabhas must be convinced before mining anything fro that area.As expected foolish gram sabhas don't understand **** on how economics works!! and they are stalling everything

4)super corrupt govt.(anyone disagrees)??

5)rising interest rates to control inflation has led to fewer loans for capital ventures and has hit sme's(small and medium industries hard

6)Socialist policies of govt like food bill:Now this bill cleared the parliament yesterday and look at the markets today,rupee has hit 68 against dollar,steepest fall in like 18 years,sensex is down and ppl are terrified(except nri's who had a payday in this crisis).Now whay is this bill so dangerous??

       a)Our growth forecast for  this year is only 4.8% and it may still fall
       b)Our current account deficit is about 70 billion dollars this year and this will only add to the bill
       c)In the current pds (public distribution system) about 40% of foodgrains rot while they remain   
          in the open so this bill will lead to wastage and the effect will be .....NIL

  
      d)This is the reality of our storage facilities!!
 

       e)The provision of the bill is officially 1 lakh 25 thousand crore rupees but to set upthe mechanim
        we need at least 2 lakh fifty thousand to 3 lakh crore rupees.effects will be
                                                                           1)no money for infrastructure
                                                                           2)decreased spending on health
                                                                           3)lower spending on education
                                                                           4)lower spending on sanitation and clean drinking
                                                                              water
                                                                           5)increased petrol and diesel prices
                                                                           6)possibly increased taxes

So all i am saying is that there is no fundamental flaw here but a lot of foolish decisions that have deterred the investors to shy away from india

It seems that the 'unprogressive' united progressive alliance aka UPA has finally managed to fulfill its primary goal it set out in 2004 after coming to power-making india a socialist economy,a consumption led economy rather than a manufacturing oriented economy and destroying completely the 'indian growth story' along with potential of millions of its young people.Recent reports indicate that rupee has crossed 64 against the dollar,sensex has tanked below 18000 and what does UPA care about?Food security bill of all the things!!As if NREGA was not enough UPA wants to completely shatter indian economy for years to come.People may say i am over-reacting but the effects of this bill will be felt for years to come and will push india years back.Now lets briefly discuss whats wrong

1)When UPA came to power,india was growing at good rate,although not 8-9% but still the fundamentals of economy were good,moreover people hoped for better future.But in the last 10 years government has only been successful or has tried to pass only civil nuclear bill with the USA.It bothered with nothing else except maybe 2g scam,coal scam,commonwealth games scam and whatnot.Arguably,govt was too focussed on these scams to pass any meaningful bill.

2)NREGA:Congress passed national rural employment gurantee act in its first 5 years of power with the sole aim of grabbing votes(congress wallahs will differ) and they did get votes and came back to power.Now this bill provides employment to a person for at least 100 days of a year and pays a bare minimum wage.Specifics are not a point,the thing is this scheme has been a massive failure on the ground(as if we hoped any better).Agricultural workers have started enrolling for nrega,pushing cost of farming fairly high,contractors are enrolling fictitious workers and pocketing the profits and the scheme is virtually unimplementable in maoist affected states.Due to all these reasons our subsidy bill has increased manyfold without any meaningful contribution to society.

3)MANUFACTURING:It saddens me to say that according to stats indian manufacturing accounted for 24 % of the world in 1857,just about 100 years later it had fallen to 3 odd%.But the real shock is that even after 66 years since we virtually manufacture nothing meaningful.Mind you,there is ample difference between manufacturing and assembling as latter is a forte of indian economy,not the former.Forger about high end stuff,we can't even manufacture a 50 cc engine for sunny or luna.All the cars manufactured in india have foreign engine except maybe nano(if you wanna call a 625 odd cc 2 cylinder engine a true car engine).We can't make a single computer chip.Forget about the high end computer chips manufactured by intel and arm we can atleast try with smartphones?From the defence to auto to pharma sector we manufacture nothing worthwhile,heck india succeded in making war grade steel only in 2013,we were importing that from si
ngapore and russia before!!

4)FOOD SECURITY:As if already the condition wasn't bad enough we are gonna pass this act pretty soon and i see no one in the media seriously objecting to this useless crap law simply by the magnitude of its ambition.The bill hopes to provide 67% of the population(you heard right),ie roughly 80 crore people with highly subsidized foodgrains costing us atleast rs 1 lakh 20 thousand crore per year minimum although the actual cost will be at least double of that.I mean am i the only one shivering at the idea of this bill.

5)FUTURE:I don't wanna sound pessimistic but policies such as these are gonna paralyze the country totally,its only a matter of time before we feel the pinch.What about building more medical colleges,nore engineering colleges,building roads and power plants?What about spending money on r and d.We have to answer all thes questions before implementing laws like food security.

6)WHY STEPS TAKEN BY GOVERNMENT ARE WRONG:First of all i must clarify that i am no analyst or economist but i have shared my views with many people(bankers etc) and they seem to agree.The only reform(if we can call it that!) that this govt headed by a supposedely brilliant prime-minister and finance minister has done is increasing the interest rates to bring in the inflation.Now this has flopped,as we can all see from the soaring prices(remember onions).The reason for this failure is pretty simple-BLACK MONEY.Now because the majority of money in india is circulating currency and not the e-money(debit card,credit card or accounted money),,,the reforms at bank level like mentioned above has no effect as this unaccounted money was never part of the system in the first place!!.

7)WAY FORWARD:The only path is privatization of our inefficient and moribund public sector units so that we can end govt control over industry bringing down red tape and nepotism.This move will take power away from 'socialist' politicians to scuttle every progressive move and help save this nation.And last but not the least this UPA govt needs to go simply because it has put economy in dumps and is giving out doles like a foolish king.

By the way although we want UPA out in 2014 elections but our PM has different ideas.See for yourself

It has been a while when i last wrote on this blog.Nevertheless,the situation in the country demands that i write something to vent my frustration.First of all i must clarify that i am writing this as a common man who knows problems faced by people like him and am not aligned to any group.
                                                                                   Anyone who follows indian politics closely would have noticed a recent pattern of congress vs bjp fight on secularism and communalism.I am sure you all would have followed the Narendra Modi 'I AM A HINDU NATIONALIST REMARK' from the reuters interview and the congress barb attacks following his 'PUPPY' remarks.If not then pls type on google for getting information.
 The motive of writing this has come from utter frustration on seeing where our country is headed on these hard times.The PM has already spoken(ya he has finally!) that the growth this year would be 6% or below.RBI has already hung its boots regarding its inability to bring down inflation and the falling value of rupee.Our exports are down,manufacturing sector has come to naught,petrol and diesel prices are rising every fortnight and all the government talks about is secularism!All it can think is how to portray Modi as a villain,a communal person whose only aim is to kill or subjugate the muslims.And to top it all the spokesmen of congress,,,,,,,legendary thick skined Mr digvijay singh is busy proclaiming Osama bin laden as 'OSAMAJI',,Bathla house encounter as 'controversial' and the recent bodh gaya blasts as a conspiracy of the bjp.

Now yesterday i was thinking about all the 'secular' parties anger about modi regarding godhra,so i decided to open the wikipedia page of godhra riots.Now if you open the page you will ge t the following facts

1)started on feb 27 2002
2)hindus dead-254
3)muslims dead-790
4)most importantly the whole riot followed after 59 kar-sevaks were burned alive in coach s-6 of sabarmati express when they were returning from ayodhya after kar seva.

Please compare the above data with 1984 anti sikh riots

1)How come congress that killed 3000 people right in the middle of delhi claim to be secular??
2)If yes,then are muslim lives more precious than the muslim ones??

4)Can gujrat riots be called as state sponsored genocide when 254 hindus were also killed alongside muslims?Compare it with sikh riots
5)The most important question i pose is this-Why did the riots start?

The above assumptions would help you realize how futile the secularism-communalism debate is.1984 sikh riots did not stop sikhs from voting for congress,niether 2002 should stop muslims from voting for bjp.We must realize that we are living in a multi-religious society and things flare up now and then.But it dosen't mean that we keep on living in the past.We have to look forward and right now our priority should be governance rather than debate on secularism or communalism.

jan lokpal bill

Well,the massive response generated by anna hazare campaign has forced me back from the self imposed exile from facebook.Contrary to most people,i would be focussing on what is 'RIGHT' and what is 'REALISTIC'.Mind u,we are not living in the gandhi age.We ought to be practical and stress on the things that could be achieved rather that run amok after barely teneble stuff.

                                                          First of all let me make my own stance clear.I am totally against this congress govt and i have been since for the past 2 years or so,way before ppl came to know about 2g scam and stuff.I believe its a party run by ppl who have no zeal for the betterment of this nation,they are simply reaping the benefits of a particular surname......u ppl know what.Added upon that a puppet prime minister,sorry a mute puppet i meant.For anyone who follows politics closely would agree with me here that prime minister fails to instill confidence in general public.I am not saying bjp ppl are great saints,but atleast we had in atal bihari vajpayee a man whose thunderous oratorship captured the nation's imagination,it gave ppl some hope(maybe false,but still).

Now lets start with lokpal bill.First of all the motive of the bill is very clear,it aims to end corruption at all the levels.No one can dispute that if rightly implemented(which i recon isn't possible),this can seriously dent corruption.I mean not only ppl but even politicians would be scared of indulging in immoral behaviour(i mean corruption,not other 'immoral 'deeds,lol).This bill as a result could be called a very idealistic one,just like a hindi film hero fighting the villain.Anyone who has studied physics will remember carnot engine that has efficiency of 100 %.But are all these things practically possible???The answer is resounding No.

REASONS:
1)Bill has to be ultimately passed by the parliament only,if u hear anna camp's demand.All they say is that their draft should be kept alongside the official govt. draft.They DON'T demand their bill to be passed against parliament.So do u really think MP's will accept anything that makes them poorer(yes,u heard me)..by huge margins by putting parliament under lokpal.How will lalu commit fodder scam,how would a raja earn money??So this is practically impossible.

2)I am sure everyone would be happy to hear the opposition out,,,some may even be moved by their statements.But ppl don't forget opposition supports anna on more or less only one issue that is including pm under the lokpal.And by the way BJP,considering they win the nexy election ould be coming to power after 9 odd years and am pretty sure most of them would be ready for their 'pound of flesh'.Do u think they will let anything come in their way?laughable

3)The third bone of contention is juditiary.As the govt has already announced that it would make a seperate judicial commission,there is very little chance of it coming under purview.But i am of the opinion that it should be under lokpal as the last two of the chief justices of supreme court,justice yk sabharwal and justice balakrishnan have been alleged to have committed some wrongdoing.

RESULT and PREDICTION

I think that after careful consideration the govt will eventually agree to:

1)bring all the govt employees(i mean all) under the lokpal although i doubt they will include IAS officers.
2)appointment of lokpal will be free of govt. control.This govt law vests the entire power of appointment of lokpal member to the govt which in itself is self defeating
3)lokpal will have only the investigating powers,,,no punishment powers
4)ppl who complain against the corrupt would be protected
5)CBI will be OUT of lokpal purview contrary to what anna wants,but govt simply won't agree on this,take my word for that

Now after all this thinking i truly believe that anna should negotiate with govt over the issues mentioned above but i doubt much will come out of it as don't forget it is not me or u who has to pass the bill.It is the parliament and u know what??IT IS FULL OF POLITICIANS.LOL

The Lost Punjab

Modern day Punjab could be summed up by the song of band karmaasa.I know the name isn't very promising but its worth a try.The lads have done a fantastic job highlighting the shortcomings of our society and is a welcome change from the 'average' punjabi singer feeding nonsense to the public.With lines like ''mittran nu shauk hathyaran da or'' rambo rambo u are dealing with commandos'',what are these people trying to portray????What type of commandos are we,as we fail to clear even the basic military drills,,,we don't fulfill the physical standards to join army or the police!!!Its all true,u can search on the net and know yourself.
                                                                                                                                          It used to be said that songs are a reflection of the society and it was true to a level with people like gurdas mann singing songs reflecting the mood of the public.But now,even as the debt of punjab keeps on escalating with every passing year and the tax collection goes down spirally thanks to the bad policies of the govt. we,the people of punjab seems to be in some sort of false hope.Hope that even after using drugs like a normal food item we are somehow superior,that we can never go down.The reality is something else.The reality is that today punjab is being run by the labour from UP and Bihar.The same group of people whom we consider 'bhaiyyas' are making rapid progress on the account of their hard work and commitment.And where has the famed punjabi farmer gone??????U go to any farm and u will see bhaiyyas doing all the work.
                                                          I am deeply hurt on seeing this systematic deterioration of a state that was once the model of excellence,that used to form 10 percent of indian army,,,,people who were known for their hard work and honesty(remember the sardar truck driver in old hindi movies).The fact is that money has made us blind and callous.We no longer strive for excellence,our youth is drowning in the sea of drugs,,,,we are getting corrupt day by day.................our society is so much divided by the formation of new deras that i would need a new wikipedia page to categorize them.So why behave that we are superior,,,why have that false punjabi pride,,,,,why look at the achievements of the past when we have no strength to repeat those feats???????
